Spindle docs
How to track, split and report time in Spindle, how suggestions from Claude Code and Codex work, and how to run Spindle on your own server.
Getting started
Splitting time
- How suggestions are madeSpindle suggests how to split a time entry between projects, and offers entries for agent work no timer covered, from when you sent prompts in Claude Code and Codex. Nothing changes until you accept.
- Reviewing the day's suggestionsThe day's review collects every split Spindle suggests and every stretch of agent work nobody tracked, for a day or a week, so you can take them in one go or one by one.
Agents
- Connecting Claude Code, Codex and other agents to SpindleAdd Spindle's address to Claude Code, Codex, Claude or ChatGPT and sign in through your browser. Then your agent can read your time, describe your entries, run the timer and propose time for you to add.
- What you can ask Claude Code or Codex to do in SpindleYour agent can describe your entries, fill in the time you forgot to track, fix or split an entry, run the timer and answer questions about your time. It writes descriptions itself, and proposes time for you to add.
- Reviewing time your agent proposesWhen Claude Code, Codex or another agent proposes new entries or changes, nothing is saved yet. They wait in Spindle, where you add, edit or discard each one.
Tracking and reports
- Rates, fixed prices and retainersSet billable rates and each person's labor cost, add a fixed price or a retainer where a project isn't billed by the hour, and see what each project earns per hour.
- Sharing a timesheet with a clientShare a report as a link, and the client sees a read-only timesheet of their billed time, day by day, without an account. It stays up to date and downloads as PDF, Excel or CSV.
