Reviewing time your agent proposes
When Claude Code, Codex or another agent proposes new entries or changes, nothing is saved yet. They wait in Spindle, where you add, edit or discard each one.

When Claude Code, Codex or another agent connected to Spindle proposes time, nothing is saved yet. New entries and changes wait in Spindle, in the desktop app on Mac and Windows and above the calendar on the web, where you add, edit or discard each one. Agents propose time when you ask them to fill in a day, or to fix or split an entry. See What you can ask.
Review what was proposed
When an agent proposes something, Spindle tells you: a notice in the window, and a notification if Spindle isn’t in front. On the Mac, a ✦ also shows beside the timer in the menu bar. A bar above every view says what is waiting, such as “Claude Code proposed 3 new entries.” Click Review… to see it. On the web, the bar is above the calendar.
The review shows the proposals by day. A strip above them shows your entries for that day, with the proposals as dashed outlines. Each proposal has its description, its project or split, its time and the agent’s reason. A change says what it changes, such as “Time 14:30–17:45 → 14:30–17:00”.
- Add saves a new entry as proposed. Apply saves a change.
- Edit… opens the proposal in the entry editor, to change it before you save.
- × discards one proposal.
- Add All saves every proposal nothing stands in the way of. Discard All throws away every proposal that waits.
What you save is listed under Saved in this review, each with Undo, until you close the review.
Proposals also show where the time would go. In the calendar a proposal is a dashed block marked “Proposed · not saved”, or “Proposed change · not applied” for a change. In the list, an entry with a proposed change has a Change proposed chip. Click a dashed block to review it.
When a proposal needs a look
Some proposals can’t be saved as they are. Spindle marks them in red, and Add waits until you fix them with Edit… or discard them:
- The entry was deleted.
- The day is locked.
- It ends in the future.
- Its project was archived or deleted.
- It lacks a detail the workspace requires, such as a project or a description.
Others are marked in orange as a warning, and can still be saved:
- It overlaps an entry or another proposal.
- The entry changed since this was proposed.
The review says how many need a look, and Add All then saves only the rest.
What an agent can propose
Spindle refuses a proposal, and tells the agent why, when:
- it ends before it starts, or is longer than 16 hours
- it is in the future, or on a locked day
- its project is archived or unknown, or its task is done or from another project
- its split isn’t 2 to 6 whole percentages that add up to 100
- the same time is already tracked or proposed
- a change wouldn’t change anything
An agent can propose up to 50 entries or changes at a time. A newer proposal for the same entry replaces the one that waits.
Where proposals are kept
Proposals are kept on your Spindle server, in the workspace the agent was connected to, so the desktop apps and the web show the same ones. Only you see them. One you haven’t dealt with expires after a week. Once you add a proposal, it is an entry like any other, on every device.
